I've loved this song forever ... had the lyrics hanging up on my wall when I lived in the Upper East Side for several months. I think the images in this video encompass the feeling of the song so well. Enjoy!

Soaked Puppy Products
Have I designed the first puppies-only luxury bath products? Should I be embarrassed by this? Probably. But above is my latest packaging design assignment. Puppysalts, a puppybar and puppywash. Untapped market, no?

The mounds of work are burying me all avalanche-like already! Just thought I'd make that known. I don't like M.I.A. Tam ... her social attendance record is atrocious. I'm really hoping I won't have to miss any birthdays this year for schoolwork. So very many strange assignments this week.
Anyway, I should've gotten a lot more done tonight, but distractions have been darting around in my work bubble for far too long. One of which is the above image stolen from my friend's always inspirational tumblr (yes, colie, I still keep up with it...you know I love your eye!)
I do like the way this was presented - it's personal yet upfront. Sometimes I think literacy is a curse ... all this crazy stuff that's been put into my head thanks to publications from the New Yorker to various blogs to my trashy vacation tabloid indulgences (thanks, Grandma). It's like this stew of words that occasionally makes no sense, especially when translated into something auditory. A bit mind boggling sometimes, no?

Pinned Down
I impulsively reorganized my schedule last minute and stumbled upon a class on jewelry fabrication. Since metalworking and jewelry soldering haven't really made my repertoire, I decided these were skills I must learn. So, for our first project, a brooch, I am to design something - anything - within the confines of a 3" x 3" square. Of course, one of my favorite artistic periods of all time, Art Nouveau, has always served as a major influence in my work. So I decided to take a cue from some of the most beautiful jewelry pieces I've ever seen, of course hailing from this era. Sketches and final to come soon - this is just a starting-point inspiration board :)

Ah, Labor Day .... aaaand the summer's close approaches by the minute. As is annual tradition, I've posted virtually nothing over these past three months, and will perhaps resume written introspection as we settle into Autumn. It's been an entirely unpredictable summer in so many respects; definitely one of those summers that just kind of throws you a brand new perspective without warning, for better or for worse. I'm very grateful for this one this time around, though, I got to spend many an hour with old and new friends and family I really truly care about and haven't gotten to catch up with over the course of my jam packed life this whirlwind of a year. As much as I stink at keeping in touch, it's good to know that I can pick it right back up with one of my college best friends I haven't seen in a couple years, or a childhood best friend I haven't seen in over half a decade as I have this summer. And of course my cherished family time was had on the west coast. Miss 'em all tons.
I know this year will be one of those crossroads sorts of years - one that presumably will be chockfull of the forced decisiveness on myriad fronts. Cheesily enough, I'll just have to take it one day at a time and enjoy the ride while I'm at it :) . 26 is undoubtedly a good age, and I definitely think I'm better equipped than ever to be making these sorts of decisions. So, less than an hour before the unofficial end of the summer, here goes!
