glamorous life
This is one of the finals of the proofs I uploaded a while back ... I turned in a colored version but after rediscovering the work of Aubrey Beardsley and other Art Nouveau artists in my history of graphic design course, I decided I missed the simplicity of black/white despite the fact that color is all over most of my work. I couldn't do without a little bit of it, so the red lips had to stay ;).
I've been really very inspired lately and have sold a few handmade portfolio tote bags so I'm going to hit up Adorama tomorrow and finally get a new lens with the bokeh I've been craving in my photos (portraits, particularly). Hellooooo Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II!
My photostyling group and I have come up with some TO DIE FOR concepts for our accessories shoot. The relevance of the caps will be revealed very soon. Brainstorming was so on today.
In addition to being inspired by a combo of art nouveau and art deco illustrations, I also site the notorio-kitschy Sheila E. lyrics for the concept.
She wears a long fur coat of mink
Even in the summer time
Everybody knows from the coy little wink
The girl's got a lot on her mind
She's got big thoughts, big dreams
And a big brown Mercedes sedan
What I think this girl
She really wants
Is to be in love with a man
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life
She don't need a man's touch
She wants to lead the Glamorous Life
Without love
It ain't much
She saw him standing in the section marked
If you have to ask you can't afford it lingerie
She threw him bread and said make me scream
In the dark what could he say
Boys with small talk and small minds
Really don't impress me in bed
She said, I need a man's man, baby
Diamonds and furs
Love would only conquer my head
They made haste in the brown sedan
They drove to 55 Secret street
They made love and by the seventh wave
She knew she had a problem
She thought real love is real scary
Money only pays the rent
Love is forever
That's all your life
Love is heaven sent
It's glamorous
